Posts: 891 03/07/04 19:00:49	Tags : None Okay...this is going to sound stupid.... I've heard pretty good things about FF6, and I want to buy it. The problem is...I keep hearing all this talk about how there are different versions for the US and Japan...or something like that. And then I hear talk about Final Fantasy Anthologies...and GAHH! I'm just so confused! =D Could someone please tell me...what exactly do I buy and where?

Posts: 570 03/07/04 23:52:15	Hopefully I can help... I THINK what you heard is the confusion about how Final Fantasy 6 ( as we US'ers know it) is really Final Fantasy 3 in Japan. As far as I know the games are the same, just numbered differently. If you buy Final Fantasy Anthologies, you'll be getting Final Fantasy 5 and 6 ( as they are known in the US ) that can be played on the PS or PS2, instead of the SNES. When I bought Anthologies I also got a music CD with music from both games, tho Im not sure if that comes with every one. I hope that helps you some.

The game on SNES, as US'ers know it is FF3 but It is really FF6 in Japan, this is because three more FF games were released in Japan and the US decidied to call it FF3. In US FF Anthology US Edition has FF5 and FF6. In the European FF Anthology it has FF4 (Which was FF2 in the US) and FF5.

There's Final Fantasy III for SNES, Final Fantasy Anthology for PlayStation, Final Fantasy Anthology Greatest Hits for PlayStation, and Final Fantasy Anthology Greatest Hits with the SquareEnix logo on it (should be the most recent release). I recommend getting the SquareEnix FFAnthology Greatest Hits version. You can purchase it here new. Although FFAnthology does contain FF5 as well along with FF6. The only US release of FF5 is in the FFAnthology pack, so if you don't mind getting FF5 too, get FFAnthology. And if you don't want to get FF5, get Final Fantasy III for SNES.

Posts: 1116 03/08/04 11:59:27	It's not really that hard. ^_^ There was Final Fantasy I for Nintendo. Final Fantasy II and III for Super Nintendo, then there was nothing for a while until Final Fantasy VII for Playstation. The thing is that Final Fantasy II is ACTUALLY Final Fantasy IV. And Final Fantasy III is ACTUALLY Final Fantasy VI. They didn't send us the real Final Fantasy II or III, but instead IV in place of II, and VI in place of III. I'm assuming it's because they never thought the real II and III would be any good in North America. But IV and VI would be. As well, V was never released or switched with another game. However, a few years ago they released Final Fantasy Anthology and Final Fantasy Chronicles. Final Fantasy Anthology contains the real Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI. VI would be known as III to most people here. V was only ever released in Japan originally. On Chronicles, there's Final Fantasy IV, known as Final Fantasy II to us originally. There's also Chrono Trigger, but that's not really Final Fantasy related. They also eventually released Final Fantasy Origins not too long ago. That has Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II, the REAL Final Fantasy II they never released here. At the moment, the only one not here is the original Final Fantasy III.
